High Speer lines and trains In Spain

In 2012 it's been 20 years since the opening of the first high-speed lines in Spain, which currently has Europe's longest network of these lines, constructed in the project of restructuring the country's transport network. Spain is a country which, inter alia, with the accession to the European Union was experiencing economic boom. Economic prosperity marked primarily the construction and transport sector, including railways, despite the current economic crisis. An ambitious plan to build a high speed rail line causes that Spain already has more than 2000 km of this lines. p. 24;

Traffic safety in transport requires a certain distance between each vehicle and driving at a speed not greater, than the so-called safe speed. The distance between vehicles depends on the maximum speed of the vehicle, its weight and the braking distance. Driving with a minimum interval between vehicles, but not less than braking distance, enables reaching the highest capacity a particular section. p. 5;

In recent years, propulsion systems enabling regenerative braking (recuperation) became a part of the electrical equipment of public transport vehicles [5]. Traction substations in Poland are not equipped with energy storage systems recovered from vehicle. It is possible to use energy from regenerative braking only if in the proper time in the same area is located the other vehicle with the capacity to absorb it. In view of the rapid increase in the number of vehicles equipped with the possibility of regenerative braking it is reasonable to take steps to increase the recuperation energy utilization. p. 5;

The selection of rectifier units is a complex and one of the most important issues in the design of traction substations and other equipment for facilities requiring DC power [2]. An important task is to determine the appropriate class for changed rectifier units. Due to the specific load variation of traction overload class selection is a task that requires additional studies. In the available literature, there is no extended information on methods that clearly and simply allow to choose the correct overload class rectifiers. This problem is certainly also been contacted in the design of traction substations for the second line of the Warsaw Metro. p. 3;
