Economic, technical and strategic aspects of intermodal transport

Factors influencing the increasing interest of intermodal transport and its development are not only to optimize time and cost of transport or continuity of the transport process. A huge role in creating these trends plays limits associated to the use of road infrastructure which are consequences to projects protecting the environment. The concept of multimodal transport, intermodal and combined are often used interchangeably. In projects with EU funds play an important role an evaluation of the implementation of the various stages of action. This is due not only to the requirements of the contract, but above all to the need of demonstrate the degree of targets fulfillment (or their non-compliance). An evaluation of actions is carried out on the basis of previously developed methodology, based on selected qualitative and quantitative factors. This methodology also provides a way of obtaining data, it proposes a procedure for carrying out the necessary measurements and analysis of the results. 4 pages.

Analysis of duties of enitity ordering and carrying modernizations of railway lines out in certifying subsystems fit for use

The Detailled Order Descriptions (OPZ) and other documents involving contracting authority with contractors of modernization of railway lines have to deal with various provisions defining the responsibilities of contractors for subsystems acceptances. Indirectly, this entries in some cases also define the actions to be taken by the contracting authority to obtain 'authorization for use of the subsystem ". In order to obtain such a permit it is necessary to apply to the President of the Railway Transport Office, and the application - in accordance with the provisions of the Railway Transport Act [8] – can be submitted by the subsystem manufacturer or his authorized representative, the governor, rail carrier, disposer, importer, investor or entity. Such a broad list of entities that may apply to the RTO, causes a need to clarify the responsibilities of contractors and contracting authorities, bound with relevant agreements. 4 pages.

Influence of the type of the property of the operator on using resources in the urban transport - modelling approach

Companies involved in passenger transport in the system of public tasks on behalf of the organizer act as operators. Featured with this name operators perform services according to the tasks assigned to special financial rules and without the participation of competitors. New organizational legal solution aims to increase accessibility to transport services for passengers on the "low" prices. Lower prices for travel in relation to the market price is supposed to motivate travellers to use public transport and to discourage the use of the own car. The operator is paid by the transport authority according to the rates determined in the tender and that guarantying profitability for this activity. As a result, the difference between revenues from ticket sales and the costs incurred for the purchased vehicle kilometers is covered from the budget of local government. 3 pages.

Dilemmas of establishing the compensation for services of the public transport

In an article on the use of performance tools management authors of this article presented a methodology for determining revenues and expenses, constituting the basis for determination of compensation for provision of services in the public transport. It was developed during the implementation of the project under tripartite agreements concluded on the 1st July 2012 between the Staropolska Chamber of Commerce in Kielce and PKS in Ostrowiec and two university academics (University of Economics in Krakow and Wroclaw University of Technology). The result of this project is to implement an instrument enabling using an Excel spreadsheet for generating and presentation of information to support management decisions in respect of their transport activities, including those related to the calculation of compensation. 5 pages.
