ANALYTICAL AND NUMERICAL ASPECTS OF DAMPING OSCILLATIONS OF COLUMNS UNDER CIRCULATORY LOADING CONDITIONS

In this paper we study the influence of damping on the stability of columns under variable loads ofcirculatory type. As opposed to the case of static loading by potential forces, energy dissipation by damping does – in general – not ensure a stabilizing effect. For purely elastic columns, the stability limit can be improved by shape optimization. Here we show that by optimizing the distribution of damping effects along a column it is also possible to increase the critical load of a given column.

INTELLIGENT AND INTERACTIVE SYSTEM IN RAIL VEHICLES WITH PARTICULAR SIGNIFICANCE FOR RAIL CROSSINGS SAFETY

This paper presents a prototype system being part of an Integrated System of Supporting Information Manage-ment in Passenger Traffic (ZSIKRP Demonstrator+). The system is tested on a demonstration scale in real condi-tions. It should be noted that main problems for carriers, rolling stock manufacturers and factories that modernize rolling stock are: multiple installation manuals and ways of maintenance. They lead to confusion during the exploi-tation of rolling stock. The prototype system offers an integrated solution with a unified service, which improves the comfort and safety of passengers. Moreover, ZSIKRP system focuses largely on ensuring the safety of travelers in electric EN57 1756 and diesel SA 132 006 vehicles. It takes into account the possibility of practical implementa-tion of the module allowing automatic detection of an improper behavior of drivers. It is done at rail crossings by continuous image analysis and abnormal situations recording.

MODELLING OF TWO-PHASE SINGLE-LEG MATRIX CONVERTER USING LT SPICE CIRCUIT SIMULATOR

The paper deals with two-phase one-leg matrix converter with minimum switching devices. Main emphasis is laid on modelling and simulation of a new type of single-phase supplied AC/AC converter with two phase outputs. It consists of one-leg half-bridge matrix converter loaded by the resistive-inductive load in series connection. As har-monic analysis of the voltage of both phases gives very high value of total harmonic distortion (roughly 86 %) the current waveforms should be improved by using of serial LC filter – which brings much more suitable value of THD (5 % - 8 %) acceptable for application. Real simulation results using LT Spice circuit simulator under RL loading are given in the paper.

INTEGRALS OF THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL CONTINUITY EQUATION

The authors analyze the method used by Cauchy and Lagrange to obtain the integral of continuity equation. The authors propose their own method of integration using Schwarz’ theorem. As a result, the authors obtain a greater number of possible solutions with a higher level of generality while also being able to identify the basic disadvantages of the Cauchy-Lagrangian method. Further, the authors conducted a detailed interpretation of the results of their solution.

MARKOV MODELS OF FAIL-SAFE DEVICES OF AUTOMATION AND TELECONTROL SYSTEMS OF RAILROAD TRANSPORT

The article introduces the concept of fail-safety of devices of automation and telecontrol of railroad transport. It proposes a fail-safety indicator for a complex evaluation of device safety and reliability. A model scheme of a fail-safe device of railroad automation and telecontrol is developed. Markov models of devices are developed to evaluate the level of fail-safety of these device.

RESPONSES OF STANDARD AND FRACTIONAL LINEAR SYSTEMS WITH DERIVATIVES OF THEIR INPUTS

The responses of continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems with derivatives of their inputs are addressed. It is shown that the formulae for state vectors and outputs are also valid for their derivatives if the inputs and outputs and their derivatives of suitable order are zero for t = 0. Similar results are also shown for the discrete- time linear systems and for the fractional continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems.

OPERATIONAL REGIMES OF DE LOCOMOTIVES AND POSSIBILITIES OF FUEL SAVINGS

The utilization of installed power of internal combustion engines (ICE) generally, and especially in shunting locomotives and locomotives for industrial transport, is very low. The mean output of ICE in the operational mode is about 10 – 20 % of its installed power. The maximum power of ICE is used only at about 1–2 % of working time. The changes of ICE output are fast and frequent as well. The result is that most of the time internal combustion engine works in regimes that are far from optimum mode and in transitional regimes. It means that specific fuel consumption and production of harmful emissions are high. Some examples of measured operational regimes of locomotives are given in the paper. The improvement can be achieved by using of the unconventional traction drive of locomotives. One of the pos-sible ways is using the hybrid traction drive. The hybrid drive includes the ICE and the energy storage device. In this case the installed output of ICE can be substantially lower than in the classic traction. The parameters of such traction drive must be based on analysis of real operational regimes of locomotives.

Описывается конструкция сопряжения кузова железнодорожного экипажа с тележкой. Автоматически управляемая боковая опора кузова на тележку, содержащая установленный на раме тележки заполненный маслом корпус, в котором размещены верхняя и нижняя опорные плиты, при этом нижняя плита жестко связана с рамой тележки, а верхняя - с кузовом железнодорожного экипажа отличается тем, что боковая опора кузова на тележку имеет изолирующую оболочку на верхней опорной плите, изолирующую прокладку и источник тока, соединенный сверхней и нижней опорной плитой, при этом величина силы трения между верхней и нижней опорной плитой изменяется подчиненной системой регулирования тока, состоящей из регулятора тока, сигнал на который поступает с выхода сумматора, сравнивающего сигнал задания величины скорости движения экипажа, поступающего с блока уставки заданной скорости движения, с действительным сигналом скорости движения, поступающего с датчика скорости движения и размыкателя, сигнал накоторый поступает с выхода датчика угла поворота тележки.

THE USE OF SQL AS A TOOL SUPPORTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A METHOD OF ATTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANCE ANALYSIS BASED ON SOFT REDUCTION OF ATTRIBUTES IN THE ROUGH SET THEORY

The article presents a way to quickly implement a method of analyzing the significance of attributes by using soft reduction of conditional attributes in the rough set theory. The analysis is a universal instrument for testing the significance of attributes and may be successfully used in many fields, including transport. It uses the rules that can be considered useful and allows reducing those attributes that do not cause a significant decrease in the number of rules generating entirely certain rules. At the same time it is a rapid mechanism of analyzing large data sets such as encoded attributes of rules. For implementation purposes we propose to use the mechanisms of modern relational databases and the capabilities presently offered by the SQL language, including its expansion with conditional CASE queries.

THE DETERMINATION OF INLAND VESSEL’S MANEUVERING AREA USING GPS

The article discusses issues relating to the determination of a maneuvering area of an inland vessel. The author presents the methodology for defining the vessel's swept path width through simulation and field studies. The Global Positioning System has been characterized in view of possible use of GPS RTK to determine a safe maneuvering area of a ship sailing on inland waterway. The author also explains the procedure of measurements using GPS RTK and discusses problems that may be encountered during tests.

NEXT GENERATION CELLULAR NETWORKS SERVICES FOR TRANSPORT NEEDS

Transport infrastructure is vital to the well-functioning of economic activities and a key to ensuring social wellbeing and cohesion of populations. Adequate infrastructure is a fundamental precondition for transport systems. So, the main aim is to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and traffic management and enable various users to be better informed and make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter' use of transport networks. In this case modern and next generation wireless technologies can be used. In the nearest future, up to 2020, 5G cellular networks have to be deployed in Europe and they will bring lots of benefits for transport systems. That’s why it is necessary to investigate new opportunities of next generation cellular networks and to implement them to the concept of intelligent transport systems of the future.

NON-CONTACT STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING OF ROTATING COMPONENTS

The article describes a class of diagnostics issues for rotating parts. An indirect method has been applied for the structural health monitoring of critical machine parts, which is based on the detection of the angular position of the rotating parts or defects and precise measurement of the time of their arrival, TOA. The variable reluctance sensor or generator stator is the fixed part of the specific encoder. The subject matter has been illustrated by means of examples.

Advertising, sales promotion, personal selling and public relation are some of the most important elements used in promotion. Airline promotional activity need to be adapted to the demand on the market. The most suitable adver-tising option for airline business will depend on target audience and what is the most cost effective way to reach as many of them as possible, as many times as possible. The advertising option chosen should also reflect the right environment for the product or service. The promotion policy helps the company keep control of the message it is sending about the good or service, as well as to dictate appropriate actions that employees can take when dealing with outside personnel. Promotion is one of the key elements of the marketing mix, and deals with any one or two-way communication that takes place with the consumer. The purpose of the article is to clarify what is difference between promotion and marketing activities and has to serve as a part of future prepared study material for students of University of Žilina.

INFORMATIONAL AND FUNCTIONAL RELIABILITY MODEL FOR AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEM OPERATOR

As shown in this paper, reliability of equipment and reliability of operator due to psychophysiological factors cannot be considered separately. This paper deals especially with air navigation system operator reliability. So the main goal was to create the operator's reliability model. As a result the information functional reliability model for the air navigation system operator has been created. This model takes into account dynamic of error changing, depending on the loading of the operator. It allows to solve the problem of determining the reliability of operator in normal and special flight conditions.

ALTERNATIVE USE OF PARAMETERS COLLISION AND THREATS DETECTION MODULE TO ADVANCED REPORT OPTIMIZE FUEL CONSUMPTION AND ENERGY

Introducing integrated system ZSIKRP have important implications for increased passenger comfort and improve the technical level and reduce the maintenance costs of rail vehicles. Currently the majority of manufac-turers of rolling stock is focused on meeting the TSI requirements in the context of the interoperability of rolling stock within the ERTMS/ETCS and in these works there is no place for activities aimed at introducing systems sup-porting the work of the driver and increase the safety of passengers. The adopted within the framework of ERTMS/ETCS work focused on ensuring the safety of structural (as defined in the standard EN 50129), while the project ZSIKRP focused on the safety of travellers and safety resulting from the technical conditions in rail transport as well as in the context of protection against attacks of aggression. A special module was devoted to the role of optimizing the fuel consumption of the vehicle SA 132-006 (type SZT) and energy in EN 57-1756 (type EZT).

RISKS AND SAFETY IN THE OPERATION OF RAILWAY VEHICLES

The need for continuous improvement of product quality, reliability and safety arises from product specifications, government regulatory requirements, agency recommendations, legal implications and above all a company’s desire to improve its market position and customer satisfaction. These issues require product manufacturers to perform risk analyses that identify and minimize part/system failures throughout the product‘s life cycle. The FMEA method-ology is one of the risk analysis techniques recommended by international standards. It is a systematic process to identify potential failures to fulfil the intended function, to identify possible failure causes so the causes can be elim-inated, and to locate the failure consequences so the consequences can be reduced. As an example, FMECA of rail-way freight tank wagon has been done on which the most critical parts and are addressed, consequently measures to reduce the risk of failure mode in operation are proposed.

The article covers the issues of the modernization of Oktyabrskaya Railway (Moscow - St. Petersburg - Helsinki) aimed at the improvement of transport and logistics infrastructure of the Russian railways. In this regard, the intro-duction of the following technologies was analyzed: traffic control system ALS 400, global data transmission system GSM-R Track – Train, and the upgrading of track with continuous welded rails, Pantrol-350 anchor rail fasteners for high speed railway, and point switch system retrofit.
